COURSE COMMENTS
Joyce
It is wonderful to see the progress and growth in knowledge Joyce has made this fall. Joyce has been very quiet in class, but she has a very positive attitude and works diligently in class. Creative coding is a course that teaches students the principles of object oriented computer programming using the Processing language. Students learn to program through the completion of small activities, and complex interactive projects. This course requires a significant amount of preparation outside of class to problem solve, and explore the various pathways to computational thinking.
Joyce manages her time very effectively, and her projects reflect a solid foundational knowledge of the many topics we cover including programming structure, the use of functions, conditional statements, variables and managing files. I also have seen Joyce take initiative in utilizing additional resources in a way that pushes her projects in complexity and depth. She not only build more knowledge about the topics, she also exhibited an artistic and patient approach to the assignment and generally throughout the course. I recommend that Joyce consider taking the following course: Design for Emerging Technologies.
